Seems to be that in certain Eastern regions, e.g.India, digging a grave is such a strenuous task that corpses are left on high platforms to be stripped by vultures.
It´s easy to imagine the silent part of those open tombs. But one should also understand that vultures and such are not professional undertakers and more often than not pieces of bodies are unvoluntary dropped around the city.
